The
Launcelot-Dane Junkin Family Group History Society (The Junkin
Society) was formed in 1982 by a group of Junkin family members
interested in researching the Junkin family genealogy and history.
Since that time:
- We have published a book called "The Junkin
Families...
from County Fermanagh, Ireland to Victoria County, Ontario and
beyond...", and a supplement about the Junkin families and their
descendants
- 4 Junkin reunions have been held
- The Junkin House was moved to Kawartha
Settlers' Village in March 1993, restored and furnished with artifacts
- Detailed recording and photographing of each
artifact is ongoing
- Junkin Society members participate in Kawartha
Settlers' Village events by welcoming visitors to the Junkin House
- The Junkin House is maintained by society
members
Our Junkin logo shows a shamrock
superimposed over a maple leaf,
representing the Junkin family immigration to Canada in the 1800's.
Married names of the original Junkin sisters, including Beatty,
Patterson and Martin, are also on the logo. Family names encircling the
logo include many of the descendant names of the original Junkin family
settlers who settled in Verulam Township.
The Junkin families were among the
earliest settlers to settle in
Verulam Township / Bobcaygeon & Fenelon Falls, Ontario area.
Several siblings and first cousins of
the Launcelot Junkin line and
their families emigrated from County Fermanagh, Ireland in the 1800's.
Most settled in this area, while one sister emigrated to the USA. The
Dane Junkin family settled in the Ottawa area after serving in the war
of 1812. |
The Junkin
House at Kawartha Settlers' Village, Bobcaygeon, Ontario

Thomas and Easter
/ Esther Junkin built the Junkin House in the
early 1860's. It was located on a farm in the east half of Lot 20,
Concession 3, Verulam Township, between Bobcaygeon and Fenelon Falls,
where they raised their family. Malcolm Junkin, a descendant of Thomas
and Easter, and his wife Phyllis donated the house to The Junkin
Society, after which it was moved to Kawartha Settlers' Village,
Bobcaygeon, Ontario in March 1993.
